The After School Program is starting again!
The School District of Solon Springs will be offering its after-school program for students in grades 4K-12 during the 2020-21 school year. The program runs Monday-Thursday 3:30-5:00. Transportation home is provided for all.
The popular play-based after-school care option is open for 4K, Kindergarten, and Children’s House students.
Elementary age students are given the time to complete homework AND participate in enrichment opportunities. Each evening has a different theme:
Mondays |
Tuesdays |
Wednesdays |
Thursdays |
Guided Computer Time |
Game Night |
Outdoors |
Cooking |
Middle/High school students have tutoring available Tuesday - Thursday from 3:30-5:00.
Many times students receive failing grades because of missing assignments or because they could have used a little extra help in completing an assignment. If test grades are low, some extra help in studying for the test could have made all the difference. Often, time spent on basic skills will make all the difference in a child’s education throughout their school career. Strongly consider signing your student up for the after school sessions. Sign ups can be for either one night or all nights available.
AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM OPERATION FOR THIS YEAR
*Students staying for the after school program must have a signed registration form returned to the school office. This includes students in grades 6-12. (We have had a few students who told their parents they were staying after school when they were not.)
Registration forms are available in the school office or here.
*Masks must still be worn in the building or outside if not 6 feet apart.
*The staff will be leaving at 5:00. There will be no one to supervise your child after 5:00. It is important for us to know if your child will ride the bus home or you will be giving your child a ride home. Plans other than what is indicated on the registration form must be arranged in writing. The person supervising after school will not be the person who might take a phone message earlier in the day.
*Students who have behavior problems twice for any session may lose the opportunity to attend.
If you have any questions or would like to register your student, please feel free to call 378-2263. We look forward to a positive educational partnership with you and your child(ren).
Thank you,
Julie Fromm

Dear Parent/Guardian
To better communicate with parents the School District of Solon Springs has an addition to Family Access called Skylert. Skylert is a message system that will give parents important school information by phone, email or SMS texting.
Skylert allows parents to enter phone numbers, e-mail and SMS texting information into Family Access. If there is a mass phone notification, the new phone numbers entered by the parent/guardian will be notified in addition to the phone numbers that have already been provided to the schools. For example, parents can enter the phone number of their day care provider or an emergency contact, such as grandparents, to also receive messages from the School District of Solon Springs.
You may access Skylert by the following:
1. Log into Family Access. You will find the Skylert link is in the same area as the Grade book, Attendance, and Schedule links.
2. Click on the Skylert link and a page will display all phone numbers and in what situation those phone numbers will be called. As always, should you need to make a phone number change for your child(ren), please contact the individual school where your child(ren) attend.
We trust that you will find Skylert helpful in keeping important people in your child’s life informed of important information.

Please note that the Primary Phone, Work, Cellular, and home E-mail shown under the Notifications for Primary Guardian are the same pieces of information recorded in our Skyward Student database. Changes that you would like to make to these numbers and e-mail can only be made through the school’s main office.
Save – if you make changes, be sure to click Save before exiting this screen. S
Emergency notifications will reference events such as safety related incidents and other emergency notifications determined by district administrators. Emergency notifications will be sent only as needed.
General notifications are for informational purposes only and will reference various district and campus events and information. In addition, General notifications will be utilized to alert parents of school delay and/or closure due to inclement weather.

Beginning with the 2016-2017 academic year the School District of Solon Springs has partnered with Connections Learning to provide the Solon Springs Virtual Program. Through this partnership students may become full time online or combination online/onsite students of the School District of Solon Springs. With online instructors provided by Connections Elementary Students will participate in Academic Core Courses (English/Language Arts/Reading, Math, Science, and Social Studies) and may choose from further educational opportunities like Art or other Elective Courses. Middle and High School Students will work with a Program Coordinator from Solon Springs School to select courses that fulfill the appropriate academic standards at each grade level and credits toward graduation for high school courses.
Students may also elect to participate in a blended Virtual/Onsite program that allows them to take classes onsite at the Solon Springs School combined with selected Virtual Courses through the Solon Springs Virtual Program. Students in these programs take some courses in the regular school/classroom setting and complete the remaining annual course/credit requirements within the Solon Springs Virtual Program.
All Solon Springs Virtual Program Students are monitored locally by a Program Manager and a Program Assistant who remain in contact with families regarding students’ progress through their programs. Additionally, as students in the Solon Springs Virtual Program are a part of the Solon Springs School District these students have the same opportunities as all Solon Springs School Students and are invited to participate in class field trips and school sponsored extracurricular activities.
