Dear Solon Springs Families:
Solon Springs is participating in the United State Department of Agriculture (USDA) Seamless Summer Option (SSO) for the entirety of the 2021-22 school year. This means that our school provides free meals to all students! This program provides additional support and flexibility for our district to continue serving meals to children while maintaining safety measures and managing the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Included in the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic are nationwide supply chain and product availability shortages. Disruptions are due to a lack of availability of raw ingredients and labor to produce, unload, and transfer food products. Some food and/or beverage products normally provided to students may not be available or arrive as scheduled. Due to unforeseen circumstances, last-minute menu changes and product substitutions may occur. Be assured meals will remain balanced, healthy, and plentiful. We ask for patience and understanding as we do our best to meet the needs of your children.

Updated Solon Springs School 2021-22 Quarantine Protocols
Revised January 17, 2022
Quarantine Changes - The School Board has approved revised quarantine procedures that allow for some earlier return to school. These changes are based upon parental feedback and changing guideline from the CDC, Wisconsin Dept. of Health Services, and the Dept. of Public Instruction. These revised procedures are shown below.
Rapid Covid Testing - Because of the national shortage of Rapid Covid Testing kits, we do not have any at school at the present time. We hope to receive more kits in the future.
Home Test Kits - Households can now sign up for free ones from the federal government. When these kits are used at home, we are not allowed to use a positive test result as a basis for an early return to school . . . however, if an unopened household kit is brought to school and we administer the test, that positive test result would count. Contact Christine Nordness for details.
Students/staff that test positive will be placed in isolation for 5 days and MUST be fever free for 24hrs without the use of fever reducing medications. The positive student/staff can return on day 6 and MUST wear a mask through day 10. On day 11, students/staff are able to remove masks.
Siblings of students or staff of students that test positive MUST quarantine for a minimum of 5 days and is recommended they test on day 5. If unable to separate from the positive case, they will quarantine for 10 days. Close contact siblings or staff of students can return on day 6 and MUST wear a mask through day 10. On day 11, close contacts are able to remove the mask.
VACCINATED CLOSE CONTACTS:
IF siblings or parents ARE FULLY VACCINATED; both doses and booster if applicable, they DO NOT need to quarantine, instead mask the full 10 days and it is recommended to test on day 5.
CLASSROOM CLOSE CONTACT:
Close contacts within the classroom that are not related or live within the home, are NOT REQUIRED to quarantine. It is the parents/guardians decision to quarantine and/or test their student. Parents/guardians will be notified by phone if there is a close contact within the classroom.
